On September 22nd, our Student Safety Patrols received their training which was coordinated by the Waterloo Regional Police, all three area Fire Departments, and Emergency Medical Services. Safety Patrols have been trained to not allow pedestrians to cross if there is a car coming in either direction. Even if a car stops at the crosswalk, they are trained to wave the car through, as this is the safest way to have children cross the street. Please have patience and be supportive of the students. Encourage them and say ‘thank you’. It will build their confidence. They are volunteers and we commend them for their time and effort.
