Our Oldest and Only students should have brought home a FundScrip fundraiser package last week. This is a new fundraiser that School Council is trying this year. The idea is that gift cards for many retailers and restaurants are offered at face value, and the school receives a small percentage from the retailer.

We like the idea that it doesn’t ask anyone to spend any money that they wouldn’t normally spend – it’s just an opportunity to purchase the gift cards and support the school – while making your usual purchases (eg. groceries at Food Basics, Loblaws chain, or Sobey’s/Freshco; gas at Esso or Petro-Canada; or a meal out at any number of establishments including Boston Pizza, Swiss Chalet, or Subway). There are also many retail store cards that would make great Christmas presents for those “hard-to-buy-for’s” – teens who are too picky and need to shop for themselves or those who have everything and don’t seem to need anything.

Please be sure to have a look at the order form sent home and submit your orders to the office no later than Wednesday, December 3rd. Please note that the order form is for your consolidated order – please keep a list for yourself of individual friend and family purchases, and then put it all together on the form to submit.
